How To 02: Basic Using
02.1. Window Setup
-------------------------------------------------------
on startup, three windows will show up
one is the "data in out" window called MAIN,
the overview map window, which is called MAP
and the window with deailed AIW drawing, called TRACK DET
you can move & close the windows, the app will remember its state and open the windows like closed
02.2 UI configuration
-------------------------------------------------------
in SETTINGS tab, you can change the colors of the UI, they will be remembered (they are saved in APPDATA/AIW_WX_182style_sty)
above the color section, is a selection for base COLOR SKINS (dark, light, classic) you can select one from the list and adjust it for your needs, but all previous color settings will be overwritten
in the UI GENERAL area, you can change the font and size used
those changes need an restart
02.3. MAP USAGE
-------------------------------------------------------
after loading an valid AIW, the EDITOR will show an overview map, which is centered on 0,0
and an magnified area in the DETAIL window, centered on the first WAYPOINT
you can now change the DETAILED map position by several means
you can click in the overview map, with the right mouse button on the area of interest
the white box will move to the area clicked and represent by its size the area shown in the DETAIL map
you can use the three slider in the top left corner of the DETAIL map, to change the magnification
or the center position of the map
the white box in the overview map, will represent changes done
02.3. COLOR MAPPING
-------------------------------------------------------
every AIW item, has his own color to be drawn and style (NOT YET INTEGRATED)
this means, you can change, how an object will be drawn, either in the overview like in the detail window
this colors are different for every mod you are working in
so, there is a settings of colors when editing waypoints and another for editing grid positions
there are the same at the begining, but you can change them to your needs and those definition will be saved (NOT YET INTEGRATED)

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Is it possible to use this editor with GTR2 AIW files?
Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
yes and no.
first it is far from ready
yes it reads GTR2 AIWs (seldom crashing on faulty ones)
it ignores non RACE07 tags, so on saving you will loose some stuff
but its great for visualisation (already)

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
just checked the vanilia GTR2 tracks don't use any non RACE07 tags
so you will only loose rFactor tags (which may work or not in GTR2)
but you will get a warning in the LOG window, what was ignored

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
OK thanks will give it a try
Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Now the Aiw editor got the same issues as Yuca had with some of his tools.
Can't start the aiw editor after the last windows update.

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
will ask yuca to take a look on it, as he seems solved that with his MemViewer
funny, not encountered any problems on my 2 WinX machines
maybe different GPU

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
That is strange? Maybe the update schedule for win 10 are different?
Might upgrade a laptop to win 11 and see what happens.
Got nvidia rtx 2070 GPU.
But it is not the Nvidia driver as i tried going back to an older one.

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
i cant tell you, it was just a guess, as i am using AMD GPU
and had no issues yet with the apps from us (which are running on GLFW)
and i know yuca has a GTX and run in some problems too, with one older app from us
so maybe an OpenGL windows, bla bla update related to GTX,
hope to find energy to get forward with the AIW Editor next year to implement more stuff,
happy to hear request what would be needed

i rewritten the GLFW binding and hope it runs again on all WinX machines

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Hello, lusso. I already know how to edit the AI's course lines, but they also have an overtaking line. How to edit this overtaking line in AIW Editor ? Thanks in advance for your help.
Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
i might be wrong
but, there is no such thing in the Overtaking path in the gMotor2 games
there seems to be one rF2
basicly, there are three paths in an AIW file
base, from which all other things are spreaded out (tracklimits, cuts etc)
then there is the DRY & WET line (defined in wp_path)
and thats it in R07,GTR2,GTL,rF2 & and other related
AMS1 - maybe there have more

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Hi, lusso.
Sorry, I'm a layman on the subject. I thought there was a specific, editable overtaking path. Thank you for the explanation !

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
no reason to be sorry,
one reason this forum exist is, to provide a place for knowledge transfare
which may generate more stuff for R07 or similar

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Do think rf1 and maybe Ams? Got multi paths options for Nascar style tracks. So AI can stay on different lines and not bunch up on one long line.
But on all 'Real' race track you only got one optimum dry race line.
Might not be the same for all cars types but then we go into rf2 again with multi path race lines for different types of cars.

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Hi,
Is there a way to lower or augment the speed in the Editor ? I mean mostly for curves where the ai is really off pace, because i use to do that with wp_event but it takes a lot of time to do it in the aiw.
Thanks

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
dont think so,
but an advantage to do it in the editor, you see, where you editing on the track

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
One thing about the ai speed.
wp_test_speed=x.xxx
That defiantly also works in race 07 and GTR2 .
Got a few tracks where the Ai can't get round the track if that entry gets delete.
Imola 1972 are an example.
Might not be a great way to do it as different cars would be able to handle the corners at different speeds?

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
Hi Lusso,
i saw a pic in your post that have a WP event, i have allways used that instead of WP test or WP cheat, so it seems the edit of corner speed is there no ?
[External Link Removed for Guests]
and yes changing the AI speed will make them all using those changes but when you look carefully to the AI, they do lot of same thing all togheter, wich is also theyr drive lines.

Re: WIP AIW Editor for Race07
maybe i rephrase my answer
yes, you can edit EVENT entries in the AIW points (and the plus against a texteditor is you see where you do it),
but no, there is fancy functions like for GROOVE
so it is hand work
